Our Fainting Goats
Fainting Goats have a disease called hereditary genetic disorder called myotonia congenita. It causes their muscles to stiffen when they are startled or excited. If they are not balanced, they will fall over, making it look as if they have fainted. It is painless and only lasts 10-15 seconds. They are awake during it and if you are the one that caused the faint, they will be giving you a dirty look. If they could give you the hoof, they would.
Our goats are registered with both the Myotonic Goat Registry and the International Fainting Goat Association. Rose and Star came from Oak Hill Fainting Goats, www.oakhillfaintinggoats.com and Sophie and Roxy came from Davey Farm, www.daveyfarm.com

Davey Farm Roxy's In The Band
Roxy came from Davey Farm. She is full of fun and is unbelievably ornery. Each day brings an untied shoe, zipper pull, or my personal favorite, when she grabs the elastic cord on my coat, pulls it back, and lets it snap me in the rear. When she gets frisky she has a four inch mohawk that stands straight up along her spine. We think she was aptly named by our child.
Oak Hill Rose Cuddly Blanket
When deciding on names for your animals, we have learned that asking your three year for ideas results in, let's just say, interesting choices. Rose came to us from Oak Hill Farm and has proved to be the dominant female. She keeps the others in line and always leads the goat parade around the pasture. She is one of the two we chose to start breeding with because of her dominance and her larger size.
Davey Farm Sophie Sweetie Belle
Sophie also hails from Davey Farm and is our little runt. The others pick on her a bit, but she never backs down without a fight. She is also the most friendly and does not patiently wait for attention. She is sweet and lots of fun. As soon as we reconfigure their play area, she is the first to hop on and try it out.
Oak Hill Baby Goat Star Song
Star is our blue eyed girl. She is the most timid of the group, but if there is kale to be had, that shyness disappears. Like Rose, she came to us from Oak Hill Farm. The fun begins when we need to catch her. if she was not a fainting goat, we would be running around for a very long time. We also chose to breed her this year. We are hoping for blue-eyed kids, but let's face it, goat kids are adorable no matter what the color of their eyes.
Flying Pig Farms Jane
Jane is the first little one born on our farm. She is a beautiful Black-Belly with the most striking face mask. Jane was born May 20th, 2013. She was one of two and her brother has his work cut out for him. Jane is brave and daring and at three days old is scaring the life out of us. We'll keep you updated on her progress as well as ours.
